The Director General of Peter Obi’s Campaign, Doyin Okupe in an interview with the Channels TV on Monday, was asked what makes Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former Governor of Anambra state, different from the political elite.
In his answer, Doyin Okupe lifted a statement from Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala’s publication titled, “Fighting Corruption is Dangerous”. This book according to Doyin Okupe talks about Nigerian elites.
Doyin Okupe noted that inside that book is an evidence that Peter Obi is not an every day elite, but he is a different and distinct political elite, and over the years he has shown himself to be so. Doyin Okupe noted there is no governor that left the amongst Peter left for the incoming administration.
Quoting Ngozi Okonjo Iweala’s publication, page 61, Okonjo Iweala said that all the Governors refused to and were against savings it was only Peter Obi that wasn’t against it. Quoting the statement of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, she said, “Such as Peter Obi of Anambra State argued for savings but were not supported”.
Doyin Okupe noted that even Okonjo Iweala supported the view that Peter Obi is quite distinct from today’s political elites.
