Obi Reacts As Makinde Debunks Akpabio’s N30bn Claim

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has called on the Federal Government to disclose information regarding the alleged N30 billion disbursed to each of the 36 state governors by him in an effort to reduce inflation and the exorbitant cost of food items.

This follows Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s claim that state governors had received N30 billion apiece from the federation account to help with the extreme poverty and hunger that existed in their respective regions.

However, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has disregarded the report, stating that Akpabio’s assertion that each state in the federation received an extra N30 billion in revenue beyond their statutory allotments was untrue.

In response, Obi has demanded transparency and good governance, stating that an explanation of the payment’s specifics is necessary for the people for whom the support is intended to follow through and ensure it is used suitably for their advantage.

Obi further stated that the government needs to break the wasteful practice of using borrowed and limited resources to address urgent issues and consumption.
