The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has informed residents of communities in Warri and Effurun, located in Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas of Delta State, about an upcoming eight-day blackout. Scheduled from Monday, December 4 to Monday, December 11, 2023, the blackout will impact several areas, including PTI, Airport Road, Sapele Road, Effurun, and Warri environs.
In a statement released on Sunday night in Warri Region and shared with journalists, BEDC explained that the planned power outage is necessary to facilitate a significant repair operation on its panel circuit breakers at Okoloba. The statement reassured customers of the company’s commitment to improving service and urged understanding during this maintenance period.
BEDC’s statement reads, “This is to inform our esteemed customers that we are replacing the old 11KV Indoor Panel Circuit Breakers at Okoloba ISS, starting tomorrow, Monday, December 4, 2023, and to be completed on or before December 11, 2023. The affected areas include PTI, Airport Road, Sapele Road, Effurun, and Warri environs respectively.”
It further urged residents to bear with them, emphasizing BEDC’s dedication to enhancing service delivery. The blackout is part of the company’s efforts to address critical infrastructure issues and ensure a more reliable electricity supply in the affected Delta communities.
