Imo Election Chaos: LP Agent Beaten, Thrown Out Of The Collation Centre

In Imo State, a Labour Party (LP) agent, Calistus Ihejiagwa, got roughed up and thrown out of the Collation Centre in Owerri early Sunday. He kept protesting the results, claiming they didn’t match what he saw on the Result Viewing Portal (IREV).

Despite wanting to submit a petition to INEC, Ihejiagwa’s complaints were shut down by the Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina. His colleagues, seeing him as a disruption, kicked him out around 5 am while the collation continued.

The incident adds tension to the already charged atmosphere of the Imo elections held alongside Kogi and Bayelsa on November 11, 2023. Results from Kogi and Bayelsa are set to be announced on Sunday morning.

Stay tuned for updates on this unfolding situation.
