The Federal Ministry of Finance building in Abuja, FCT has reportedly caught fire as at today, 23/02/2022
According to an eye witness, a thick and heavy smoke waved from the building into the air following the fire outbreak this morning
While reacting to the incident, the spokesperson of the Ministry, Olajide Oshundun told Channels TV that the outbreak begin at about 6:50 am and it was noticed after some staffs noticed that smoke is streaming out of the house that the battery inverter was kept.
He furthered said that the fire was cautiously quenched with the help of the fire fighting tools that are available in the building in a short while and concluded that the fire outbreak does not caused anything serious that is, all the staff in the building are unharmed but only a few destruction to part of building where the fire caught.
For more clarification on the incident, The Ministry of Finance via twitter explained what causes the fire outbreak. They said that, the incident happens on the corridor in the basement which includes an unpacked battery pack and has been control by the security personnel.
Their tweet read as follows:
“The Federal Ministry of Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media. Rather there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery pack. It was quickly put out by the security personnel.”
