Hon. Mike Usibe, an ex-commissioner under Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, was on Friday revealed why his colleagues and the majority of the party members refused to follow the governor to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They shunned him to defect with him, according to the ex-commissioner, because he failed to deliver on his mandate to the people of Cross River State.
Governor Ayade and his APC have lost their value in the eyes of the public, according to Usibe, a former Yala Local Government Chairman in Cross River State.
The PDP contestant for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency told newsmen in Abuja shortly after filing his expression of interest and nomination form at the PDP National Secretariat that his ideology differs from that of Governor Ayade.
He said: “Governor Ben Ayade is a great failure. We refused to follow him to APC because my own ideology is quite different from his own. I told him when he was leaving PDP that I will not follow him there. As a commissioner in his cabinet, I resigned and remained in PDP.
“Similarly, Ayade has also failed to deliver on promises or mandate to the people of Cross River State. If you go to our state, you can’t see any developments done by Governor Ayade. So, we all know that he is on a political vogue.
“For me, I am not a desperate politician, whatever our party decides, I will surely abide by it. But one thing is sure, as a local government chairman, my work will speak for me. And secondly, our senator at National Assembly is doing a great job that our people are proud of. All things being equal, we will win.”
