“Governor Alia No Longer Picks Up Our Phone Calls” – Benue APC Alleges

Local Government Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have leveled accusations against Governor Hyacinth Alia, claiming he has abandoned the party’s leadership in the state.

In a communique issued after the forum’s meeting on Friday, the APC stalwarts alleged that Governor Alia deliberately refrained from collaborating with the state’s leadership and party members. The forum highlighted strained relations, citing inaccessibility, non-responsiveness to phone calls, and the exclusion of party leadership in crucial government appointments.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the recent constitution of local government caretaker committees, the forum criticized the inclusion of individuals from the opposition on the governor’s list. Led by Austin Agada, the forum distanced itself from Governor Alia’s decision to sideline the party’s leadership in policy and program formulation.

The party chieftains emphasized the importance of respecting democratic structures and leadership within political parties. They criticized the governor’s unilateral approach to state affairs without consulting the party.

As a response, the forum announced its intention to stage peaceful protests at various offices, including the APC State Secretariat, Benue State House of Assembly Complex, Government House in Makurdi, APC National Secretariat in Abuja, and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja.
