2023: Wike Reveals His Next Plans If He Loses PDP Presidential Ticket

The frontrunner for the vice-presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State had in the past kicked against being the running mate of any candidate.

Naija News reports that an advisory panel set up by the PDP to help select Atiku’s running mate had voted in favour of Wike on Tuesday over Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State. Recall that Wike had joined the race for the PDP vice-presidential ticket after losing to Atiku Abubakar in the opposition party’s presidential primary. Wike lost to Atiku at the PDP presidential primary after scoring 237 votes against the 371 polled by the former Vice-President. Naija News reports that old videos trending on social media platforms like Twitter and instant messaging app, WhatsApp, shows Wike vowing not to accept VP ticket. Speaking during on of his visit to Akwa Ibom State, the Rivers State governor had said he is not in the presidential race to negotiate for Vice presidency, boasting that no one can defeat him in the PDP presidential primary.
