A coalition of Northern Group has sent a strong warning to Buhari over his attempt to release arrested Biafra People Convener, Nnamdi Kanu.
This is coming after an association of Igbo leaders paid a visit to the president to request an unconditional release of the leader of the controversial proscribed group.
The news generated a lot of reactions online. However, Buhari revealed that he does not have the power to accept their request as it interferes with the judiciary’s work.
The Coalition of Northern Group sent a strong warning to Buhari over his attempt to release Kanu earlier today via a statement released by their spokesman, Azeez Sulaiman.
The group stated that “separation of powers and independence of the judiciary is well delineated in the constitution and should not be violated nor interested with.”
“The request by Igbo leaders to manipulate the president of Nigeria is against the constitution, and also very risky and malicious for a criminal detained and undergoing trial for treason.”
