Atiku, Obi Vs Tinubu: Chief Justice Of Nigeria Reveals Next Place To File Appeal After Supreme Court

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, has sparked discussions with a recent statement asserting that seeking justice beyond the Supreme Court in Nigeria requires divine intervention.

In a viral video, the CJN emphasized that the Supreme Court is the apex court in Nigeria, and those dissatisfied with its decisions might have to seek justice from a higher power.

Ariwoola’s remark comes amidst protests against judgments by the Court of Appeal, particularly regarding the removal of some governors. In the video shared by a Twitter user (@omoelerinjare), the CJN stated;

“It is my court where I am privileged to serve as one of the judicial officers relating to the jurisprudence of the right to a fair hearing. As we know, the Supreme Court in Nigeria, and if you like, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, is the apex court, so whatever decision is given, appeal only lies to where none of us seated here has been, before God himself.”

This statement follows the dismissal of the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
