Arabambi Responds To Claims That He Is Being Instigated To Destroy Peter Obi’s Chance Of Winning

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Abayomi Arabambi has responded to claims that he is being instigated to destroy the chances of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. During an interview on Arise TV, Arabambi said that he has nothing against Peter Obi but the rumor that he has been paid to disrupt the party was started by party members with shady characters.

You may recall that Dr. Abayomi Arabambi and the state chairman of the party, Michael Ashade were reportedly suspended for gross misconduct and anti-party activities after Doyin Okupe’s sack was described as null and void. During the interview, Arabambi said that he wasn’t suspended but clarified that a disciplinary panel was set up to probe their activities.

While responding to the claims that he is trying to destroy Peter Obi’s chances of winning, he explained that party members who are trying to silence him are the ones spreading that rumor. He alleged that those party members delivered false information to the Court of Appeal and since he wasn’t on board with them, they are trying to silence him by claiming that he was paid to ruin Obi’s chances.

“Mr. Obi is a very keen individual, people that have shady characters must not be seen around him. They came out with this rumor because our party leadership was involved in (alleged) forgery of a Court of Appeal judgment. I don’t want to be part of that and this is an allegation that has been written to the police.

“I don’t want Nigerians to see police at the Labour Party National Secretariat and blame APC or PDP. Our people wanted some candidates to run for election and they presented false information to the Court of Appeal and INEC and I told them no. They are now trying to silence me and saying that I want to ruin Peter Obi’s chances. He is the finest among other presidential candidates but we mustn’t allow criminals to follow him to Aso Rock.”
