2023 Presidency: Despite Supporting Atiku, Omokri Hails ‘Southern Candidate’ Without Godfather

Controversial author, Reno Omokri has described presidential aspirant and former governor of Anambra state Peter Obi as an ‘over performer’ who became governor without godfather.

Naija News understands that former presidential aide, via the micro blogging platform, Twitter noted that the former governor was an excellent candidate compared to other Southern candidates who have declared their intentions to run for the 2023 presidential elections. The former aide to ex-Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri commended Peter Obi for his past records and performance, weeks after endorsing Atiku Abubakar as his choice presidential candidate. He wrote; ”Peter Obi is an excellent candidate. Of all the Southern candidates, none is close to him in terms of records of past performance. He became a Governor without a Godfather. He fought powers to retain his mandate. And when he got it, he performed. He over performed”. In 2018, Peter Obi was named the PDP’s running mate to Atiku Abubakar. However, in 2022, Mr Obi declared his interest to run for the president of Nigeria in 2023. Mr Obi made the declaration while addressing traditional rulers and Presidents-General of the 181 communities in the state at Government House, Awka.
