The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened a strategic meeting to deliberate and choose a running mate for the party’s 2023 presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar.
The meeting held on Tuesday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja has party leaders and other critical stakeholders in attendance, Naija News reports. The agenda of the meeting is to come up with an acceptable running mate for the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, Atiku Abubakar. Naija News had earlier reported that a committee led by former National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau suggested some names for the party to pick. The names submitted to the party include governors, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom). Sharing pictures on Twitter from the Tuesday meeting, the PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu added a caption which reads: “In a meeting to discuss who will be our Vice Presidential candidate for 2023 general elections.” See the photos from the meeting. As earlier reported, according to Ayu, the PDP would reveal the running mate of the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar within the next 48 hours, Ayu stated this while addressing members of the consultative committee set up to assist Atiku to choose a running mate.
