The endorsement of Atiku Abubakar by northern Christian-Muslim politicians led by Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, has been mocked by Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and other candidates for president.
Under the direction of Mr. Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, several members of the northern group have joined Obi of the Labour Party (SGF).
The Dogara faction quickly distanced itself, saying that the former SGF was acting alone because talks were still in progress. On Friday, Dogara and his team made their decision to support Atiku public, angering the political community.
Dogara’s efforts, according to Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labor and employment and chief spokesperson for the APC PCC, have not altered political slants.
