10 Southern States With Lowest Percentage Of Out Of School Children In Nigeria

According to details provided in a recent report by Cable Index, Anambra State has the lowest percentage of out of school children within age 6 to 15 in Nigeria. Four southeastern states made the top 10 list, and four south south states also made the list.

Based on the Cable Index, below is a list of the top 10 southern states with the lowest percentage of out of school children in Nigeria.

  • Anambra: 2.9%
  • Imo: 5.1%
  • Ekiti: 5.1%
  • Abia: 5.6%
  • Lagos 6.4%
  • Bayelsa: 7.4%
  • Enugu: 7.5%
  • Cross River: 7.6%
  • River State: 7.7%
  • Delta State: 9.3%
  • Akwa Ibom: 10.6%

Nine southern states made the overall top 10 list, with Kogi State surpassing Akwa Ibom to take the tenth spot at 10.2%. Southern States that didn’t make the top 10 list includes;

  • Ondo: 13.8%
  • Osun: 12.8%
  • Ebonyi: 16.7%
  • Ogun: 20.5%
  • Oyo: 20.9%

Kebbi State with 67.6 percentage topped the list with the highest percentage of out of school children. Sokoto came in second place with 66.4 percentage while Yobe took third place with 62.9 percentage.

  1. Yet, the northerners has occupied the presidency position for more than 43yrs and nothing to show for it. I wonder why they still tell themselves that the south is their problem for their underdevelopment. It’s a shame
